Troubleshooting Errors
Running into an issue? This guide covers the most common errors in Navi and how to resolve them.
Upload Errors
”File too large”
Navi supports files up to 200 MB. If your document exceeds this limit:
- Remove unused pages or attachments before uploading
- Compress images within the PDF using a tool like Adobe Acrobat’s “Reduce File Size” option
- Split the document into smaller parts and process them separately
”Unsupported file format”
Only PDF files are accepted. If you’re working with a Word document, PowerPoint, or other format, export it as a PDF first. Most applications support this through File > Export or File > Save As > PDF.
”Upload failed — try again”
This usually indicates a network interruption. Check your internet connection and retry. If the problem persists, try a different browser or clear your browser cache.
Processing Errors
”Unable to detect structure”
This error means Navi could not identify any headings or sections in the document. Common causes:
- The PDF contains only scanned images without an embedded text layer — use an OCR tool to add a text layer first
- The document uses an unusual font encoding — try re-exporting the PDF from the source application
- The file is corrupted — try re-generating the PDF from the original source
”Processing timed out”
Very large or complex documents may exceed the processing time limit. Try:
- Splitting the document into smaller sections
- Removing unnecessary embedded media or annotations
- Uploading during off-peak hours when processing queues are shorter
Download Errors
”Download link expired”
Processed files are available for download for 7 days. After that, you’ll need to re-upload and re-process the document. We recommend downloading your processed file as soon as it’s ready.
”File not found”
This can happen if the document was deleted from your workspace. Check your document list on the dashboard. If the document is missing, re-upload and process it again.
Account Errors
”Unable to sign in”
- Double-check your email address and password
- Use the Forgot Password link to reset your credentials
- Ensure your account email has been verified — check your inbox for the confirmation link
”Session expired”
For security, sessions expire after a period of inactivity. Simply sign in again to continue where you left off. Your documents and processing history are preserved.
